My Best Friend's Wedding: A Review

A review of the film.

"My Best Friend's Wedding" is a comedic drama starring Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Demote Mulroney, and Rupert Everett. This all star cast makes it a very entertaining film. Julia plays a young woman who discovers she is in love with her best friend the moment he tells her she is getting married quickly to a young socialite played by Cameron Diaz. Roberts goes on a crazed path to try and break up the impending wedding. Although Mulroney is marrying Diaz in the wedding film, the chemistry between he and Roberts was the strongest sexual tension of the entire film. The film combines shot gun comedy with heart, for a great film that you will want to watch again and again. It makes you think of the importance of finding real love before it is too late.

One of my favorite comedic characters in the film is the main character's very openly gay best friend. The comedy is kicked up a notch when Julia's character pretends that this man is her boyfriend who she is deeply in love with. His comic genius is on full display as this fake couple tries to convince the wedding party that they are indeed soul mates ready to cement their love as well dispute his obvious homosexual sexuality. He is her constant even when her life is getting crazier by her own insane antics. This film proves that there is nothing a woman will not do to get the man she thinks she loves. The friendship chemistry is really strong in this film, they do make you believe they are also best friends.

Cameron Diaz shines in this film and proves she can walk the thin lines between comedy and drama. She plays Kim, the likable bride to be even when the audience might be rooting for another couple. This film shows why Diaz has become an  icon in the world of today's films. She seems to put her entire being in every role she decides to take. She is a comedic genius as well.

This film is one of Julia Roberts best films, and is a fan favorite in her body of work. This film will make you laugh intensely and make you want to cry just as much. The film's soundtrack adds to the romantic appeal of this movie. It adds to the comedic and romantic tones of the film.
