Kimberly McCullough was born on March 5, 1978. She was born in Bellflower, California. She has been acting since she was 7 months old. Her first role was in a diaper commercial. At the age of 6, she auditioned for famed choreographer, Debbie Allen. Debbie Allen casted the young girl in her television show, "Fame." After this role, Kimberly landed a role in a dance film. She has been trained in gymnastics and dance. Her mother is a dance teacher. As a young girl she had a charm and talent that made her stand out from her young peers.

In 1985, the youngster was cast as Robin Scorpio on General Hospital. This has been her most famous role in her career. She is currently still playing this role on this television show. She has been playing this role on and off since she was seven years old. When she was 11 years old, she won the daytime Emmy for her role. Her character contacted HIV, from her boyfriend, Stone, later died of AIDS.  This storyline was controversial and cutting edge for any medium whether in television, or in film. In 1996, the actress quit the show to attend college at New York University. She studied film directing. The actress would return to the show during her school breaks. The character studied medicine, at Yale University. The character now is a doctor. She has been playing the role constituently again since 2005. Her character is married to fellow doctor, Patrick Drake.

In 1998, she left the show to star in primetime shows like "Joan Arcadia" and "Once and Again." She directed a film about small children in beauty pageants. She also starred in a film called, "Dying to Dance" which she played an anorexic dancer in a ballet school. She used her own dancing skills in the film. Two of her "General Hospital" costars were also in the film. Rick Springfield played her father, and is also her General Hospital character's father-in-law. She has also had a small role in the film, "Legally Blonde". In her spare time, she enjoys surfing and outdoor living.

McCullough has changed the way we see HIV/AIDS. HIV is not necessarily a death sentence. The actress has raised funds and attention for the disease. Her character is a mother on the show. She is one of the most recognizable actresses in soap opera history.
