3 Idiots: Movie Review

It is an article related to the amusement filled in the movie 3 idiots that will take the viewer to another world. A brief summary of the story of the movie is presented which revolves around three students of engineering. The main message of the movie is portrayed that we study to gain knowledge that we should use to become excellent rather than running after success after mugging up things.

3 Idiots: A True Fact Portrayed

Those who are reading this article will be amazed to know about the education system prevalent in India and the way the youngsters and the modernisers are trying to shape education into a entertaining way of learning productive things. Nearly 5% of the story of the movie is inspired from the book Five Mistakes of My Life, written by a very profound Indian writer Chetan Bhagat. The main character of the story Rancho brings about a new ray of hope for those who think differently but fear to express themselves.

Rajkumar Hirani directed the movie very well and presented it in a unique and entertaining way. It is an amusing story of a servant boy named Phunsukh Wangdu, often called out by his nickname Chhote. He is very inquisitive and has only desire and that is to study, not for clearing any examination or to hold any degree but to satisfy his heart’s content and increase his knowledge to make use of it for the welfare of the world in every possible way. Phunsukh works as a servant in the house of a very wealthy man of Shimla who now hires him to study on behalf of his son. A deal is signed between the boy and the rich man which states that all the expenditure of his study will be paid off by this wealthy personality and in return he wants a degree of graduation from the Imperial College of Engineering in the name of his son Rancho.

He works hard, excels in his studies, and reaches his destiny, The Imperial College of Engineering, Delhi. There he finds two new lifelong friends whom he calls idiots, Raju and Farhan. Each student is in the college is there just to come first in the race of being the most intelligent or being awarded as the winner, but only one is there who came there to gain knowledge and he is Chhote who is known to everyone as Rancho. Along with his friends, he spends his youthful time and the best entertaining phase of his life during which he teaches them that life is one so live it to the fullest rather than being scared of taking chances and exploring new things. At every step, he challenges the archaic system that is wrong. In the whole college, he is very famous for his creations and mischief’s.

In their batch there is one more person Chatur Ramalingam who is there not to gain knowledge but to mug up things and somehow win the trophy of coming first and being successful. While Rancho never tries to be successful, he always quotes, “Don’t run after success, run after excellence. Don’t try to become a successful engineer, try to become an excellent engineer so that success comes to your doorstep finding you.”

Rancho steals the heart of everyone. After the college ends, he disappears without telling anyone about where he is going and how to contact him in case someone needs him. During this time in college, he falls in love with the daughter of the Principal of the college, Pia, who is a medical student. Although the budding romance was trying to reach its peak during the time, Rancho was in college but he ditches Pia’s proposal because he was well aware of his deal. Everyone is heartbroken after the disappearance of Rancho.

However, his two idiot friends Raju and Farhan still hope and try to find him out. They want to meet this third idiot once again, because he is the one who taught them how to live. Even the Principal of the college remembers that face that taught him how to teach. Pia remembers him as the man who taught her how to love.

10 years after graduating Chatur somehow finds the whereabouts of Rancho in search of a great scientist. He contacts Raju and Farhan and takes them along in the quest to rescue their old friend who soon after they find out to be the great scientist with more than 300 patterns and who is sought after by every nation for his innovative new ideas. This great scientist is Phunsukh Wangdu.

There are many hilarious acts in the story and the movie is full of numerous emotional scenes that will probably make you cry. It is very entertaining movie that will bind you to an edge of your seat until the end and for the remarkable storyline and performance the movie has received several awards. In the movie, a very famous and jovial Bollywood actor Aamir Khan plays the role of the genius mind Phunsukh Wangdu, Kareena Kapoor as Pia Sahastrabudhhe, R. Madhavan as Farhan Qureshi , Sharman Joshi as Raju Rastogi, Omi Vaidya as Chatur Ramalingam (Silencer).

The movie safely secured a rating of 8.2 at IMDB and earned nearly $84.7 million at the box office. It is a worth watch film that will surely entertain you a lot. You can learn many things from this movie. It carries a good message along with it that has surely opened up many minds and may help you out in some way. It’s a very inspirational movie that broadly encourages to keep on moving in life and learn to deal with difficulties in life just as a challenge to polish your skills and become excellent.
